An American Reverie in Tuscany
Project Type
Fashion Styling: Bringing a Painting to Life Through an Editorial Shoot
Date
November 2022
Location
Polimoda
Inspired by the beauty of Serafino De Tivoli’s Una pastura, a masterpiece that the serene Tuscan landscape housed in Palazzo Pitti, this project is a visual and cultural dialogue between American heritage and Italian tradition.
This was the first project I did in Florence, when I was still just settling in, absorbing the culture, the landscape, and learning more about my own American identity. Denim, a quintessentially American fabric, became my way of expressing bridging the gap between my roots and my new environment.
De Tivoli’s work painting is characterized by rich textures and an emphasis on natural light, evoking a sense of harmony between land and life. The painting feels raw, unfiltered realism which became direct inspiration for my photography style.
I curated and styled a shoot where my friends unwillingly became models, dressed in vintage denim pieces. Set against the rolling fields and golden light of Tuscany, the shoot celebrated the rugged, enduring spirit of American denim with the softness and authenticity of Italian agriculture.
